My morning ride to the airport... A bit on the big side.
Morning fog at Arlanda.
Our first hotel room, with some modifications. We bought a coffee maker so Barbara
could have some decent Swedish coffee. (as shown) The hotel's idea of coffee making equipment
consisted of an electric water boiler and packets of Nescafe instant... That simply would not do.
The view from hotel room #1. Very London-esque.
Unfortunately the room had suffered a water leak, so there was a very noticable smell of
mildew. We were given a new room later in the afternoon.
Barbara's mother (or "mum") requested pictures of doubledecker buses. Here are
two of them by Kensington Gardens, as well as a couple of London's famous black taxi cabs.
Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park is where Barbara and I went running some mornings. Luverly.
We got slightly lost walking around Kensington, but due to that we also ended up finding this
gorgeous alleyway, or "mews" as they're called. They were side streets close to the
large townhouses, where the horse stables and servants' quarters were located.
Now they're much sought after pieces of real estate.
When in Kensington, do keep your pets in check.
Arch at Kynance Mews.
Barbara loves birds. This painting was in the hotel lobby.
More bird art from the hotel lobby.
Barbara goes Underground. Note the Ikea logo on the Oyster Card folder. Go Sweden!
Gorgeous river view in Richmond, where we went to visit our friend Gisela and her family.
Equally gorgeous view of a meadow in Richmond.
We happened by a polo game on our way to Gisela's house. My word, those are some stunning mounts.
One and a quarter of Gisela's bunnies.
Barbara loved watching these ringneck parakeets flying freely in Richmond.
Did I mention Barbara loves birds?
Barbara chillaxing in Gisela's garden.
Martin checks on mommy, feeding the bunnies.
Martin makes a face, when he notices he's being photographed.
Watch out, young man, or your face will end up that way!
A potential prince in Gisela's backyard pond. No-one volonteered to give it a kiss.
The frog prince's baby brother.
Barbara and Gisela chatting in the garden.
Martin proudly displaying his toy robot.
The view from our second room. Less attractive, but a lot quieter.
Love the exterior plumbing.
The second hotel room. Barbara dries her hair by the writing desk filled to the brim. Left to right:
TV, IPod charger, running cap, Swedish coffee, deo stick, more Swedish coffee, water heater,
coffee maker, remote control, water bottles and at the very end my Finnish hockey jersey.
The house across the street from our hotel. Very, very, London-esque.
The Gloucester Road Underground station.
I kept calling them "subways", but the English use that word for walkway tunnels below city streets.
